Maximum 8 paddlers per session. Competent paddlers will be offered 2021 membership of BCC for £40-50
Lough Henney is a uniquely suitable venue for learning to paddle racing kayaks
An experienced racing coach will explain the differences between the kayaks and paddles used for racing and ‘normal’ kayaks, explain the principles of paddling fast, and provide an hour’s coaching on the water. Those interested in getting involved in racing will have the opportunity to join the club.
Club activities will continue Wednesdays and Sundays until October, and Sundays all year round.
The session is 2 hrs in total with 1 hr on the water. We provide racing kayaks, paddles, and buoyancy aids
Paddlers should wear light clothing and footwear. Avoid Fleece and other thick absorbent clothing, and trainers with thick soles. Paddlers must have a dry change of clothes available including footwear and towel in case of capsize. If you already have a buoyancy aid of your own suitable for kayaking you can use it
Participants must be able to swim and have some previous experience of kayaking. Paddlers under 12 must be accompanied by a participating parent or sibling over 12.
