About The Event

Try dinghy sailing in beautiful Newcastle at the foot of the Mournes. Join a small group of six women in a safe, supportive, and friendly environment for an introduction to the basics of dinghy sailing. Receive 12 hours of instruction and guidance and discover the pleasures of getting out on the water.

The event comprises three 4-hour sessions. In session 1, participants will have the opportunity to crew in one of the Club’s two-handed dinghies with an experienced helm and gain confidence on the water. In sessions 2 and 3, participants will be encouraged to try a single-handed dinghy (a topper). This dinghy is suitable for women of all shapes and sizes. Participants will move between dinghies and the Club’s RIB so they can learn both from hands-on experience and observing each other. Participants will receive instruction and guidance from a qualified instructor. The objective is fun on the water and discovering the pleasure that sailing can bring.

NYC welcomes new members and membership fee discounts will be available for participants wishing to join the Club following this event.
