Enjoy an introductory rowing session on the River Foyle and also being part of a crew learning new skills.
You will use a rowing machine indoors to learn the posture and grip to be used and the sequence of muscles used during a rowing stroke. You will follow through on this in our static indoor rowing tank where you will also learn the correct way to get into a boat. You will be shown the correct way to help lift a boat and step into it. You will be introduced to rowing on the water in a boat balanced by competent oarsmen, where you will learn to move the boat using the same sequence of muscles as well as posture and grip.

City of Derry Boating Club
During the 90 minute experience you will spend 10 minutes on the rowing machine, 15 mins in the rowing tank and 30 minutes in the boat rowing.
No equipment required. Wear old clothes e.g. neat fitting fleece, t-shirt and leggings, with outer layers to suit the weather conditions and old trainers. Bring a kit bag with a bottle of water/diluted cordial, sandwich, towel and change of clothing.
