About The Event

Angling is a male dominated sport but this all-day taster event will give women the chance to find out what it's all about. Taking place at Straid Fishery which is a 20 acre lake, participants will benefit from the presence of some of the 2016 International Ladies Fly Fishing Team being on hand to guide participants.

On arrival there'll be a nice cup of tea/coffee and a chance to meet the other participants, instructors and volunteers.

We will begin the day with some Health &Safety instructions and teach you how to keep safe while fishing. You will then learn how to assemble a rod including tying on flies, introduce you to casting and give you a chance to practice casting on the grass before we have our lunch.

After lunch you can take to the water to do some actual fishing which will give you a chance to practice your new skills, after this you will be introduced to the art of fly-tying and the chance to tie your own fly and also be given a chance to catch a fish using your own unique fly.

Once the above has been completed the session will end with a short briefing on what you can do next.
