About The Event
Come and enjoy a completely unique water experience with us on our 33ft Bronze Age Curach this July and August. We built the curach as part of a community project in 2014. It is a ‘skin boat’ – a woven wooden basket covered by 3 layers of canvas and tarred to waterproof it. We have had over 700 new water users enjoy their first rowing experience on Lough Erne. No previous experience required and you don’t have to be ‘sporty’!
We will meet you in Enniskillen at 19:00 every Wednesday evening. Once fitted with your lifejacket and after the safety brief we will head off down the river to one of many locations for a relaxed row followed by coffee and a chat on one of the many islands and inlets we have discovered on the Lough. We return to base around 21:30. You will have the chance to learn all the skills needed to become part of the regular crew of Row the Erne. These include setting up the curach – oars, engine etc. rope handling, efficient rowing skills and coming into jetties.
So, Get Going and Come Rowing!
